Ocean Career Mentoring and Internships for NL Youth
Technological changes are rapidly transforming our ocean industries impacting career choices for today’s students, the workforce of tomorrow. We see rapid developments every day yet many young people are not aware of the promising careers required to support the growth of our ocean industry sectors over the next 5-10 years.
The Ocean Careers Immersion Program (OCIP) helps youth explore these opportunities by connecting them online with ocean professionals and immersing them in real world projects and virtual work site visits. Our mentors help them navigate towards rewarding careers in NL ocean industries.
Our Goals
Expose NL high-school students to the range of career options available in our marine industries and the possibilities they present for a sustainable future in rural communities.
Provide NL high-school students with relevent skills and practical experience in real-world ocean careers while introducing them to ocean technologies at work.
Demonstrate alignment between the interests of NL high-school students and available post-secondary pathways to ocean careers.
