The Newfoundland and Labrador Ocean Technology sector is comprised of companies, institutions, and organizations dedicated to ocean and marine-related technology, education, training, research and development, promotion, delivery and application. The technology is used to deliver solutions and generate efficiencies through safe and sustainable exploration, development, monitoring and use of ocean resources.
econext is an association of businesses that accelerates clean growth in Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundland and Labrador is a province with immense clean growth potential. Its vast untapped clean energy resources provide for substantial renewable energy, hydrogen, and clean fuels opportunities. It is an innovator in creating value from waste streams, and is home to a world-leading cluster of expertise in the sensing, characterization, and monitoring of the environment. Its current strengths in its natural resource sectors, from offshore oil and gas to mining, are helping to pave the way for the energy transition. econext works on behalf of over 200 members to foster environmentally sustainable economic development.
The Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA) is a member-based non-profit organization that represents the interests of aquaculturists in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are passionate advocates on behalf of our members to facilitate and promote the responsible development of the aquaculture industry. NAIA exists to promote excellence in the aquaculture industry of Newfoundland and Labrador. Its mission is to assist the aquaculture industry to achieve its full wealth creation potential, to be a strong voice on behalf of our members and take a leadership role in the development of strategies and services that will match the needs of our industry and to assist our members to attain excellence in safety, quality, environmental sustainability and profitability.
COMPASS is a national non-profit association representing the marine transportation, fisheries and oil and gas sectors. We advance the marine industry and demonstrate its ties to social and economic sustainability while driving new strategies to address human resource issues. COMPASS is committed to member networking and information sharing, advocating member interests to policy makers offering training Programs for member companies, while enhancing public perception of marine professionals across the country.

Kelli Lannon
As Program Logistics Coordinator, Kelli comes to the Ocean Careers Immersion Program with over 25 years of experience working in the municipal and not-for-profit sectors. She brings strong leadership, facilitation and event planning and organizational skills to the program.
A true believer in lifelong learning, Kelli returned to school during the height of the pandemic, graduating in the spring of 2023 with a Diploma in Business Administration Marketing from College of the North Atlantic.
When not working or planning events, Kelli can be found golfing, kayaking, hiking or traveling with friends and family.

David Tipton
David is focused on connecting youth with professionals in Newfoundland and Labrador's essential ocean technology sector. Formerly OCIP Program Manager, he continues to advise on program reporting and evaluation.
David has worked as Manager of Field Operations and Outreach with Oceans Learning Partnership, fostering partnerships and supporting experiential education programs with ocean science educators and scientists across the province. He credits much of his leadership style and team building skills to his own mentorship while working with Mountain Equipment Co-op in Ontario.
